A fire at a furkids retirement home ... I am so thankful there is a place like this for furkids to go play out the remainder of their days, but sad to read this story

The suspicion is lying on a generator used to provide electricity/heat since they had been without power due to the recent snowstorm

Furkid Retirement Home Fire
There were about 160 cats there at the time, 20 did not make it out....fire department ran 3 hoses over 1800 feet through a gate that was locked and they had to get through, to get to it...trucks kept bringing in water and fortunately it was just enough of a downhill decline that water pressure was not an issue with that length of hose involved.
The people who own/run it had been there all week and this was the first day they had left. Someone nearby saw a glow through the woods and called it in, elsewise it could have been alot worse...those 20 were in the only building that burned...fire fighters were able to keep it away from the other ones.
I am sad for those 20 that did not make it...but thankful for firefighters and good neighbors who were able to keep it from getting alot worse.
The home is for critters who's parents have either died or went to a nursing home....some pets were specifically left there through wills, or were able to retire there through estate settlements or court decisions.

How sad. I'm glad the vast majority are OK - could have been so much worse!!
