Okay, pic time... all are camera phone pics, so nothing exciting, but better than none at all!

High-tech chipmunk alert system:

This is a cell phone pic. I went to set up the good camera for a quality shot, and as soon as I got the lens cap off, Izzy hopped down.

They look like they are on the job...and very comfortable there, too.

They take their job VERY seriously

That's a small counter over the cupboard where we keep the drinking glasses and coffee mugs, right under the window. My parents used to keep all their meds there and dry the pieces from their CPAP machines on that counter, but now it is officially a full-time cat perch.

One more quick update:

Emmy has bonded with every member of the family, including my dad, who does not really care for cats at all. She greets him every time he comes inside, lets him pet her, nuzzles him. He loves it. Izzy is just naturally more skittish and prefers to be near the humans, but not be touched by them. It's just her way. She snuggles with me and sometimes mom, but rarely, and briefly. So Dad is pleasantly surprised by Emmy's love of affection and the way she always wants to be around people. He keeps telling me, "I like this cat! If all cats were like this, I'd have a dozen!"

My sister loves Emmy, too. She keeps saying she wishes she had an Emmy. She loves Izzy, but... like I said, Izzy prefers to be at a distance. I swear, I think she thinks she's a mountain lion, prowling the dark, high corners of the house, pouncing who knows what.

Emmy cracks me up... she's even MORE talkative than ever with all these people giving her love and affection. She was trying to chew on a potato sack in the kitchen this morning while I was organizing some things. I kept telling her no and shooing her away from the sack, and she kept telling me off! She LOOOOVES to talk back to me. And she always has an opinion!

Izzy's funny... she'll come downstairs at night to make sure we're in bed, hop up on the bed purring, sniff both of us, then disappear. But she needs to know that we're there, and if we stay up late, she tries to herd us downstairs. Does circles around us, meowing, trying to enforce bedtime. *headshake* What unique characters they are...

LOve your descriptions...that is so true. Angel has her little ways and that's what makes it so interesting and fun. gotta go now, but will post something about cat behavior later...

I love the picture of your "guardians". You are so lucky to have chipmunks. I've never lived anywhere that had them. I think they are so cute (although, I know they can be destructive - my aunt in Milwaukee hates them because of that).

Oh, Emmy...

That window where they're perched? We don't often open it all the way because the screen was kind of loose. Dad and I thought we had gotten it back in properly, pushed on it and it seemed secure. But even so, we only opened it when everyone was around 'cause we're paranoid.

Well, it was for good reason. She saw the chipmunk, LUNGED at the screen... and it fell through. I immediately panicked thinking she was gonna bolt and be gone... NOPE! She jumped on the picnic table, jumped right back in the window, and started grooming herself like nothing had happened. I looked at her and said her name and she looked up at me like, "What? What's wrong, mom? Why's your face so pale?"

New screens will be placed tomorrow. Ahem...
