My latest cat project :)

Post by Traci »

And hopefully, to inspire Tambrey

Actually done last month, for our strays, ferals and neighbor cats, our Kitty Kabin.

Those 'puppies' are some lucky cats! That is really something. Luv that big eared black kitty..handsome guy.

OMG! I just finished the whole thing...W O W...that made me feeling like crying - such a beautiful thing to do for those homeless unwanted cats who maybe sometime had a home and others who just never knew what a nice home would be like...that is awesome. I bet it is interesting to see who comes and goes and how they react with each other in there.

(PS- When I'm in town I'd like to stay in your kitty guesthouse and cuddle up with the little guys. :P )

Thanks, MomPaws, I am pretty attached to the little guy, he's semi-feral, but over the last year, I've somehow managed to get him to trust me (I can pick him up now, but sometimes has an attitude and I respect that

I have yet to name him, I just call him Sweetie, because he really is.

They love the cat house, it is so warm and cozy inside, but still have to get some of the other cats to recognize it as safe.

Sweetie, almost every day or night.

Squeeky, a neighbor's cat, several times.

A stray tuxedo young adult who has a love/hate relationship with me, a couple times. (he loves me because I supply him with stuff, he hates me because I vet him for abcesses, wounds and cockleburs)

Maggie, a neighbor's cat, once.

Lancelot, a neighbor's cat, twice, and freaked both times.

I'm trying to get two other ferals to even come close to the cat house. They watch me, and I'm pretty sure they understand what it's for, but ferals are very cautious and don't like confined spaces. Even though the house has an escape kitty door, they know humans are nearby and they know I watch them all the time.

It's a spur of the moment thing most of the time, so don't always have my camera with me, but sometimes I get lucky. I'll post pics as I'm able to get them. In the meantime, I just have to trust they will get used to the structure being there, learning by watching the others and hopefully they will learn it's safe for them.

What a clever idea. It looks just like a storage shed - good if you have neighbors who aren't as thrilled with kitties as you are. Hope it keeps them safe and warm.

Thanks Traci. (Note to self: don't go online in the middle of the night without cleaning eyeglasses lol! - I must've looked at that post a dozen times and could not see the shading!)

The Kitty Kabin is great - hope it inspires lots of imitators. Makes me feel good personally, thinking of all the makeshift cat shelters I've put together in various situations over the years, with some people tagging me as weird... now it's a legitimate pursuit with websites and supplies and all! Thanks again, Traci! :D
