Yes, it's about Daisy again . I was stroking her last week and felt a perfectly round, pea-sized lump on her left side, about 1cm from her mammary. I tried to look but she was uncomfortable so I took her to my feline only vet on Friday. He says it's a mass under the skin, not caused from a mole, cyst or bite. He says we should remove it under anaesthesia, because doing a needle aspiration will be painful for Daisy and we'll probably end up having to remove it anyway.
This will be Daisy's third anaesthetic in 3 months. She had one for a spay, and another for a dental about 2 months ago. The vet will do pre-bloodwork before she goes under. I asked him about dangers of having her under anaesthesia a third time and he said not to worry, but I AM worried. I don't want to leave this lump either because I'm scared it might be serious ( I always tend to panic), it's about 1 cm from her mammary. He quoted me $450 including an Idexx#608 Histopathology to biopsy it. Is it risky for a kitty who is otherwise young and healthy to go under anaesthesia so many times in such a short span?
Danger of frequent anaesthesia?
Re: Danger of frequent anaesthesia?
If it's a short procedure, the anesthesia shouldn't be much problem, but as you know, there is always anesthetic risks.
Is he saying this is a sub-cutaneous lump? Does it move when palpated?

Re: Danger of frequent anaesthesia?
Traci, thanks for replying. He called it a "mass" under the skin and it doesn't move when palpated, but the skin surrounding it moves, if that makes sense. It feels like a ball from a bb gun is under the skin.Traci wrote:If it's a short procedure, the anesthesia shouldn't be much problem, but as you know, there is always anesthetic risks.

Re: Danger of frequent anaesthesia?
Would be better if it actually moved under the skin, but it could also be attached to the skin in some form....Is it anywhere near her spay incision? Possibly a hernia if it is near the prior incision...did he offer an xray? It could also be a lipoma, most of which are simply fatty tissue, and not worrisome. But, I think it demands removing and biopsy.
When is Daisy scheduled?

Re: Danger of frequent anaesthesia?
Hi Traci, it's nowhere near her spay scar. I have her scheduled for Monday next week.Traci wrote:Would be better if it actually moved under the skin, but it could also be attached to the skin in some form....Is it anywhere near her spay incision?
