Grrrrr...

Post by slvrwhispr »

This apartment keeps having more and more issues... its newest trick? The door blows open when the wind gusts.

I did not realize this.

Until DH yells, "OH ****, THE CAT'S GONE."

Great trick. But I'm not real impressed.

The good news? I look out the door, and the cat is standing at the edge of the concrete pad right outside the door, scared witless over being outside. I grab a can of tuna and the can opener, and she scampers back inside. *headshake* The idiot was too scared to run away. But I'm really not impressed with the door blowing open. Now we have to have the deadbolt locked at all times, which is annoying because we're a second-story apartment, and every time someone comes to the door (which is often) we have to run up and down the stairs.

But it's better than the cat getting loose.

Not that she was brave enough to actually run away anyway...

What a day...

Sorry to hear that. In Florida, doors are usually put in so that they open outwards to prevent them from being blown in during a hurricane. Ours wasn't put in that way, but we survived 3 hurricanes in 2004 without it being blown in. The only lock on that door is a deadbolt.

My brother's cat was the same way. She wanted out so-o-o-o-o badly, but when it happened, they can only assume it wasn't what she expected. She used to run for the door. They had to reinforce the screen on the porch to keep her from getting out. After she did get out that one time, she has NEVER tried to get out again! I think this comes under 'be careful what you wish for because you just might get it'!

There are just some things that you cant fix up to make people not curse while they try to read what you write. I personally cuss but do try to not say that sort of thing but man when its about the cat going outside I'd a said it too. Made me laugh so hard too. Not that it was funny but what he said was.

Can you put a screen on the door? I could just picture kitty saying while outside....What the heck is this?I'm so scared I cant move...ummm wait i smell tuna.........(runs off like road runner)

Oh man still laughing over it!

Unfortunately, no, I can't put a screen on the door because it's an apartment and I can't modify the building in any way. Which stinks. We make a point to deadbolt the door all the time now, though. So the problem won't happen again.

But yeah, you could TOTALLY tell it was stomach over brain when she smelled the tuna...

This has me laughing...not cats of course, but my Bassets being scenthounds think an open door comes from heaven. Tell hubby that when he and I have to chase them down!

I have a plan in action now, so it doesn't happen often now. Grocery shopping day...open the garage door, bring the stuff in, close garage door, open door to kitchen, let the dogs sniff the garage all they want, bring bags in, treats all around because they know they will get them when they come in, Hub sits down while I put things away. Something is wrong here!
