How much onion is toxic?

Post by LisaK »

I left the room for a second, forgetting about the small plate of sauteed onion and mushrooms that was still on the table and my dog, Meadow (55 lbs) ate most of it. I guess it was around 1/2 cup or so - maybe a little more. How much is toxic? Will she get sick? Oh boy...............

they said that amount of onions is not nearly enough to be toxic to a 55 lb dog. She COULD get some GI upset tho.

never once seen a dog get onion toxicity and. i think mainly becuase they very rarely eat enought to have a problem because of the taste and also cooking them takes some of the toxicity out...again not scientific but if you have lots of things to worry about, i would put onions at the top of the list and then you can forget about the rest...
