I am sick and hurting, it is time for me to go.
Even though I love you so, it is time for me to go/
Before I go I have these things to ask.
Please do these difficult tasks.
The first is the hardest and most important.
When I go to the doctor, do not let me go alone.
Hold me close in your loving arms as I pass on.
Please do this difficult task.
The next is that you remember me not sick and ill.
Think of me when I was young and often a pill.
Think of Shining eyes, and laughing face and running fast.
Please do this difficult task.
A dog somewhere is shivering, afraid and alone.
Please find this dog and take it home.
so this dog too, will know some of the love we've had.

Thank you. I am so heartsick ... I knew this day would come, but I couldn't imagine the unbearable pain.
I keep thinking she's right here sleeping on the couch but then I realize she's not. I'm waiting for her to come into the room or bark at the mailman. This house is so full of her presence. These last few months, she was just a sleeping dog with her face in the sun.......I was content to just watch her sleep as long as it meant she would be here with me.
My daughter is going to come home from school and find out she's gone. She sort of knew this morning that things were bad, but I don't think she'll realize until she walks in and sees how empty our house is without Shelby.
I always used to tell her the story of how I picked Shelby out of a bin of 7 dogs.

Shelby's Mom, I am so very sorry to hear of your loss, my heart goes out to you. I hope you can find comfort in knowing you gave her 12 wonderful precious years....she will live on forever in your heart...
