Blood in cats urine??

Post by angellvjs95 »

Hi,
For the past 3 months my 8 year old cat has a urinary tract infection. Its been on and off. I took her to the vet when i 1st noticed it and he gave her a shot and some liquid clavamox. Its been impossible to give her any meds . My husband and i have to hold her down and we both get all scratched up. I can go 2 or 3 days and get the medicine in her but sometimes i cant give it to her at all. I know this can lead to very serious problems...does anyone have any advice on giving meds?? I tried everything. Thanks

I was wondering if i could give her injections instead of the oral meds. I asked 2 of my vets and they both said no. They are against people giving their animals shots. Ive been breeding dogs for 10 years now and give my own shots so i do know how to give one. How could i go about doing this and getting the meds if my vets are against it? Thanks

With instructions from your vet, you should be able to give your cat its' shots. If your vet is adamant about not letting you and you really feel up to it, maybe another vet will be more cooperative. I'm not sure of the legalities of certain medications being administered this way by clients.
You could also get the clavamox in pill form and use a pill popper. Once the pill in in her mouth, stroke her throat downnwards so she will swallow.

There are also grooming bags that should be able to restrain your kitty so you won't get all scratched up

I hope you'll find some way of getting your kitty her medication. You are right in that she should be taking it on a very regualr schedule. Keep us posted on how it's going, ok?
Kitty kisses,
Debbie
