HA, been there, done that. Cere was only a couple weeks old when she was brought in on emergency...her rescuers had a home lined up for her when she was old enough, but agreed that I would take her home nightly as opposed to being in the clinic every day...I took her home with me every night and weekend until she was about 6 weeks old. I'm sure you can imagine my nervousness on the day I asked them if I could keep her, but what on earth should we tell the children who had been waiting for her to get big and healthy enough to "come home"? Oh the predicament.

As luck would have it, they explained to the children that Cere needed special care, but there was a new precious kitten available at the clinic, did they want him? (duh, of course).

I'm sure your new neighbor would be delighted to help find your babies new homes, and that those she had lined up would be equally delighted with your babies, how could they resist those fiesty little darlings!!

Well, two of these four kitties will be going to a new home today :) A single woman and her 3 kids were out here earlier this week because our vet told them about our kittens...we managed to catch the yellow one (no pics posted here) because we had been working with her...they fell in love, and were going to take her that night, but when we went to put her into the carrier, she got away...
We told them we would deliver when we caught another because they want two so they have each other...
We caught a sibling, one of the two black and white fluffy ones, the next day and these two have been in our bathroom for about 3 or 4 days now...the yellow one took to the house right away and began purrring that same night...however, the other was a bit more stubborn and I only got a purrrr this morning for the first time :)
So now that they are settled and tamed a bit, they will go to their new home...

I did see a flea on the bathroom floor lastnight and checked the yellow one, which is alot easier to check and saw some flea dookie so we went to the vet this morning and got Frontline to put on them...they are a little over 3 months of age now, so that was okay...but I wanted to be sure to at least treat them for fleas so this woman does not even consider getting Hartz!!!

Tambrey, I'm wondering if it might be best for them to try to socialize them for a couple weeks or so before adopting them to new homes. I'd be slightly concerned about small children and wild kittens....it could be very stressful for them to adapt to their new environment if they aren't already socialized well with humans. (and children do not have patience, they may neglect or resent the kittens if they are too flighty or too wild yet)

Just an idea.

Well...we called her and took the kittens out to their new home today...the kids are with their dad for the next couple of weeks, so it is the mom home alone to work with them...we did have them both loving up and purrring here at our place, or would not have wanted to take them, but I want them to bond more with her than us...so I decided to go ahead and take them out there since there will not be too much excitement for a couple of weeks at least!

She has them on the front enclosed porch for now, and within five minutes, the yellow one was on its back for belly rubs from her and was purrring like mad :) the little dark one was exploring around the porch...

I think they will be fine and I told her to not hesitate to call us if she has any problems/concerns/issues with either of them...

I also told her about the dangers of Hartz products and that they had already been treated with Frontline from out vet, the same one she will use...and she said that her sister had just told her about how dazed and confused her cat acts every time she puts a flea collar on her, so she was going to let her sister know about the dangers since I told her...

Now all I can do is pray that the kittens adjust well and that they do not escape the house...that is what happened to their last cat and he died when he escaped and they could not find him in time (they live on a farm) :( So she is hoping that with two of them to play together, they will not be interested in going outside...
