Fleas! Ack!

Post by Erica »

OK, just found out my cat has fleas. Vet is closed, no Revolution or anything on hand but they have got to go now! Anything that I may have on hand to help help get rid of them for the moment. I'll be getting some Revolution from the vet but that's not until Monday. So far, I haven't seen them anywhere but on her and I don't want it to go much farther.

You can wash her with a little lemon Dawn dish soap, but it is not a cure all. Let it soak a while and use a flea comb and be very careful about not getting it in the eyes.

I hope you didn't mean soak the cat in the dishwashing liquid (this would be much too harsh on kitty's sensitive skin). All that is needed is the flea comb dipped in a dish of water with a drop or two of dishwashing liquid added, comb through, dip again, comb through, etc until no evidence of fleas. Make sure kitty's fur is thoroughly dry after.

Ericka, do NOT use anything else for flea removal, even "natural" products can be toxic to cats. Best to use flea comb only and get Advantage or Frontline from your vet.

Cool, thanks Traci. I had heard about using dawn soap but she has such sensitive skin that I'm not comfortable trying to give her a bath with it.
