A rather poignant portrait of Ruby...

Post by jdf »

This is Ruby visiting Roxy's little shrine on the mantle. Ruby visits her surrogate mother almost daily. Roxy's leash is there and smells like her - guess she misses her too.

That's a great pic, jdf, and it really is poignant! I think it's a great thing that you've got that up there, with a picture of Roxy. I'm sure the humans visit on a regular basis, too. I have no doubt that animals miss their "siblings" when they're gone. I know our cat kept going up to Mr. Blue's food dish and howling when he had to spend 2 days and nights at the vets for his heartworm treatment. It's enough to bring tears to your eyes, isn't it?

I think too many people don't give animals credit for the feeling they have. I'm quite sure Ruby misses Roxy, and is comforted by the smell still on her leash. Sad, but incredible at the same time.
