Re: smart dog takes self to vet for help...story
Wonderful and uplifting... IMO: Of course he knew! This kind of thing has been observed quite often with dogs, cats, horses... how could anyone not believe there are senses of which we humans are for the most part oblivious. Maybe some day we'll figure it out

Great story! That's one smart dog. I'm afraid none of mine would go to the vet - they hate it there. I'd be lucky if they found their way home!

we had a dog like this in Miami..he belonged to the owner of Mike Gordens Seafood house on the causway...about once a month he would cross some pretty congested highways (79th st) and sit on the steps tillsomeone noticed....he had the Florida itches real bad...we'd take him in, give him his pred shot and atache some pills to the colar (collar) then we drove him back home cause of the hightway, attach the bill to the pill pac and maybe another moth he would come back..we never could convince the owner that the highway was dangerous...by the time i left and moved up north he was still doiing it...

that's an equally amazing story, davet. Kind of an indication that dogs are capable of conceptual thinking.
