thats an interesting site...have put it in WORD for future use but couldn't find anything for valium, but when everything else failied, i looked it up in my merck vet manual.....normal usage is 1 mg perKg or about .5mg/per pound for sedation--thanks....
Re: quick question, answer needed:: does anyone know the
did you look at the calculator at their link?http://www.cvmbs.colostate.edu/clinsci/ ... ugkgk9.htm
it has valium listed - I got it to work by entering a weight in KG's.

Re: quick question, answer needed:: does anyone know the
persoonally i think vallium is far too erotic---that not the word, how bout eratic for dogs,,,physicians think that the dog will actually be tranquilized...i never found it to be that effective...when the dog got past the so called tranquile stage into sedation then it was effective but i think they don't know they are supposed to be tranquile...give it to a human and tell them its a tranquilizer they will become tranquil but dogs just don;t seem to get the point...even acepro was not really reliable till sedation was almost nigh.......

Davet, I think you're right. When I had my hip replaced and was about to come home, the vet prescribed valium for Chablis so that she didn't get so excited that she would jump on me, etc. I don't think it worked at all. Chablis was Chablis and she didn't even go to sleep any earlier. I should have someone prescribe it for me! I was the one who was worried about it.
