Mom and new kittens

Post by Diana »

I took in a couple of feral cats that were on the property of one of my rural bus stops, they were from the same litter, the male I had neutered right away ,but the female managed to get out of one of my basement windows and get herself pregnant prior to me getting her spay, they are great family pets ,she had her kittens July 29th,3 of them, she had moved them into my husbands closet, but then this morning I woke to one crying, here she brought one into bed with me ,also sleeping in bed was one of my Rotts,(we have two)anyway she kinda chorrteled at me then went off to eat, leaveing me and my dog to babysit,I put the baby back w/its litter mates, and she is taking care of them, but is it common for them to move the babes around like this?P.s she also is meowing much more then she did prior to birthing these babes.

i think its to keep them safe, for whatever reason she felt the need to move that one to you....sorry, just a guess. perhaps others can chime in.

A cat will move her kittens to a whatever place she feels is safe and quiet. If she keeps moving that one kitten in particular, it may indicate that the kitten is ill and she's keeping it away from the others. It's best to get them all checked by a vet soon - especially if the mom is meowing more now prior to the birth. She may be in some kind of distress.

Let us know what the vet says.
