Re: Queen has abandoned 2 day old kittens (aug3 born) need h
The best thing you can do is get KMR Kitten Formula, it is fortified with essential vitamins and minerals, home-made formulas are not properly formulated or supplemented......also, whole milk products can be detrimental to tiny newborns, causing diarrhea and/or constipation, and if it isn't pasteurized, can contain harmful bacteria and parasites.
Please, get the KMR for them (available at pet store, or vet clinic, hopefully in your area).....get kitten nurser bottles for them (pierce the nipples, they are not pierced during manufacturing)....and start bottle feeding them immediately as per the KMR's package directions.
Keep them warm and safe...kittens do not feel a shivering reflex until at least 7-10 days after birth, so keep them free of drafts, cool areas, etc. You'll also need to stimulate them to urinate and defecate after each feeding.....use a moist cottonball to do this...more kitten care information available on our Kitten Care Pages
Do NOT take it upon yourself to deworm these kittens, they cannot tolerate dewormers at this young age, they must be at least 8-10 weeks of age to be safely dewormed, and only then, by a qualified vet. Do NOT attempt to use any over-the-counter deworming products, they are toxic and ineffective, again, they cannot be dewormed until 8-10 weeks of age.
I find it hard to understand/believe you don't have an available vet in your area to examine these kittens. What do you do for your other pets?
