How Prince Lost His Ball, a true story....

Post by TheSkeptic »

Before starting the story, a sad tail.

Last night. At about 10:30 last night we went on a 911 for an injured dog. A pretty Cocker with a blue colar and no tags was hit by a car. At first we thought he had a broken leg only as he wolked to the Jeep and other than being snappish showed no other indications of severe pain or injury. On arriving and observing him for a while today at the shelter, we determined that his injuries were more severe than originally thought and he was put down this afternoon. No one called looking for the dog during all this time. If one of my dogs is missing for even 5 minutes I am sending out an all points bulletin over every form of communication I have looking for it. This was a good dog too.

I was watching TV this morning, when Prince began to unaccountably whine and talk. Unfortunately, Mr. Dawg was in my lap and I couldn't get up to help him. Fortunately I had my Camera at hand and took this picture.

Beubg familiar with Prince, I quickly determined that the cause of his distress was that his Tennis ball went under the coffee table. I wasn't the only one to recognize the problem. Pea Pod scooted her skinny self under the table and retrieved the ball. Good Job Pea Pod! Her motives were not altruistic and at first she kept the Ball!

Something distracted Pea Pod and soon Prince was playing with Apache, his ball in his mouth! This was fortunate as this got Mr. Dawg got off of my lap and I was able to get up!

During the play, he dropped the ball and Pea Pod grabbed it up, lickity Split! Soon Prince and Pea Pod were wrestling over the ball. ...

Pea Pod won the contest and Prince looked to me to get his ball back. I told him he was on his own as it was time for me to go to the Shelter!

When I came home this afternoon, teh ball was in Pea Pod's bed! Prince has lost his Ball!

Somehow, I suspect this will be a short-won victory! The expression on Prince's face in the last photo is priceless. I think he'll recover soon and go after that ball again.
