Calling cat?

Post by Shadowfein »

Hi there

I have a feeling that I know what the answer is going to be to this question - but thought that I would ask anyway.

Luca, my 5 and a quarter month old siamese is acting quite strangely and I am wondering if she could be calling...

She is:

a) Quite vocal (more so than usual anyway)
b) Rolling around and stretching on the ground
c) Licking down there quite a lot!
d) Trying to get out? Last night she climbed up the burglar bars on my window to the top (the window was closed) and then got stuck! I had to rescue her...
e) Trying to eat Catnip when I give it to her (this was a test to see if she was reacting to it)

She is not crouching or wrapping her tail around my arm though and her cries are not typical of a calling cat. Could this be the start? Is a visit to the vet on Monday in order?

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

sounds very much like it could be that time...our cat khanada went into heat around 5 months...I'd give the vet a call on Monday for a spay appointment

Nope - she has settled down on the couch next to me and her older sister (Tarka, a burmese) and is fast asleep! :D

I have never had a cat go into heat, except one in 1980, she too was a Siamese. It caught me off guard, as she was really young. I have since learned that Siamese cats are known it go into heat earlier than other breeds. My current Siamese was spayed at 4 months for that exact reason. The Vet said to not wait until 6 months on a Siamese. I thought that was interesting news.

Re: Update - Calling cat?

Little Luca is going to the vet at 7am tomorrow morning for her op and to get microchipped! Hopefully the vet lets me pay at the end of the month - it has been an extremely expensive kitty year! Anyway - even if he doesn't - will make a plan.

Thanks all.

And it hasn't been too bad - she is still enough of a baby that I can distract her with her toy mouse... :D
