hair falling off kitten in spots
the hair is falling off my daughters kitten in two spots about a nickel in size. the second spot just showed up. ive been treating the other spot with a topical spray from the vet. not for the cat. any ideas, going to vet on monday.

What is the topical spray you're using? And what do you mean by "not for the cat"? It's best not to use anything until this is diagnosed, especially if you're using a product not designed for cats (potential for toxicity).
Try to get your kitten seen sooner, on the offchance this could possibly be ringworm. Sometimes it is distinguishable by a centered "bullseye" appearance, red or dark rings around the edge of the spots. If you have other cats, try to keep kitten seperated until diagnosed. If ringworm, be prepared you may need to treat them all, including yourself, it's highly transmittable between species.
Otherwise, it could be nearly anything from a food sensitivity to flea allergy dermatitis, to mites, to just about anything else. Your vet may first look at it under a wood's lamp (if ringworm suspicion)...or may do a skin scrape and/or culture (painless procedure) to identify the problem.

I too hope you aren't using something that isn't meant for the cat...could cause more problems. Frodo use to have a problem like this...in our case it was a combination of food allergies and flea allergies. Change in diet and use of Advantage and she no longer has any "hotspots" As Traci said ringworm is also a concern....I hope it's something simple to treat.
