btw, I just saw your location - my husband is from Guelph, not too far from you. We live in California now but we hope to make it back to southern Ontario eventually.
Your story has upset me also. (Don't even get me started on how I feel about your "girlfriend"!).
When you go to look for him are you calling for him also? I mean hands cupping your mouth & calling his name as loud as you can. Your voice should carry quite far out in the country. Have you thought of maybe pitching a tent & spending the nite out there? How close are the nearest houses? I would suspect he would be more attracted to houses than staying in the woods (lots less scary).
Please don't give up on him and please keep everyone posted
I'm so sorry that your girlfriend did this...and even sorrier that she doesn't understand why you are hurt so bad. I think you have been given lots of good advice here but I just wanted to add that I'm praying that Durango makes it home safe and sound. I'll have to tell you that I don't think I could keep the girlfriend around if it were me

The houses are any where from a couple hundred feet to a half mile or so apart. The house where he was last seen to the next one is about a mile away then a major highway
I have contacted Sherlock Bones and will be sending out posters on Saturday and following other sujestions he has given me, so wish me luck. I get done work at 7am and will not be back untill Wednesday so unless my computer at home is working I will update everyone then. Thanks again for all the support.
Well I have done what I can do, it's been almost two weeks and the last time he was seen was Saturday almost two weeks ago. Although I can not and will not except the way he was treated, he was 14 years old and I do know all in all that he had a very good life and I will miss him dearly. I haven't given up but the longer it goes the less chance that he will be coming back. I want to thank everyone for all the support.
keep in mind, it is very possible he was picked up and "adopted" by someone who noticed an "out of place" kitty.
keep up with your posters/flyers....as you say, you have not given up and i dont think you should...even if you do begin to accept some possibilities, there will always be that possibility of returning home.
I had a cat who was missing for 3 and a half weeks and he came back home - a little worse for wear - but at home. We think that he was stolen by someone.
