How of do you groom each of your cats????
How of do you groom each of your cats????
I can brush mine out everyday and still not have gotten all the loose hair. They don't seem terribly happy when I want to do it everyday. Any suggestions? Is there are danger in "over" grooming? Thanks!
Re: How of do you groom each of your cats????
some cats will shed it out more than others...one of mine can fill up a brush instantly while the other never seems to let loose of his hair.
i only brush at most every other day. i only do it to help remove hair that would otherwise cause a furball and eventually regurgitation.

I brush twice weekly and also once weekly wipe down with Allerpet C, both of my kitties.
Recently, I bought a shed'n blade and love it. It removes all dead fur and skin flakes and thins the coat abit too!! Nothing else I tried would remove the fur without irritation to the skin. I have one cat that has hyperesthesia
and this does not bother her at all.

mostly in the philosophical sense, yes.Spez wrote:Jason: I really like the gif under your name. Are you MATRIX fan? Big MATRIX fan here.

Thanks, Mona for the link. Did the kitties much mind the new tool? Does it feel basically like a comb to them when you are grooming? Do you feel like you are removing more hair with this device? I feel like I can sit and comb and comb and comb the furballs and still not get all the loose hair off. I think short-haired cats shed more, kind of counter-intuitive.

I agree it seems as though they shed non-stop here in Florida esp.
I have an orange and white female (5yrs) and a black and white kitten.
No they did not mind it and it takes piles of fur out each time you use it. I have used it three times, and try for two times a week. I brush with a soft brush afterwards. Their coats are very shiny and soft, and Honeybun (orange girl) her coat feels less heavy.

Re: I have to try that blade....
I comb mine with a metal comb and then finish with a two sided brush that is a wig type brush on one side and a regular brush on the other. I bought a rubber brush with little nobbies that really takes out allot of hair bu the problem is it does not hold the hair it removes, it flies all over the house. My cats love to be groomed and will do it as often as I want. Actually, they would like me to do it all day long. I also trim the nails once a week and bathe occasionally. I have 6 cats and I still have hair all over, they never stop shedding. I brush and brush and brush and it never stops coming out. I am going to look for that shedding blade but does it hold the loose hair in it until you pick it out or does it fly all over? Sara
Re: How of do you groom each of your cats????
I have always used a small human hair brush (that belongs just to my cats). In fact, I can just hold it and they will run back and forth rubbing on it to brush themselves. I think the bristles are softer and they love it. My male always gets ticklish and starts biting and kicking it when I brush his tummy.
I understand there is something on the market to help cats from shedding so much. Their ad said that because indoor cats only have artificial lights it caused excessive shedding. (Makes sense.) I can't remember if it was a rub on or oral product. I guess someone interested could run searches on the Internet.
My personal opinion is that when I see a person with cat fur on them, it is a sign that they are good people. My husband keeps trying to tell me that perhaps the whole world doesn't think like that and his work suits shouldn't be covered in hair everyday. Go figure.
