Eddie my Cat

Im feeling sad at the moment because my elder cat just will not accept my kitten Jack of three months old. My older cat Eddie 4 yrs old will not come into the house unless I pick her up and bring her in! I am wondering whether I am going to have to give the kitten a new home. He doesn't go outside properly yet as hes only small and may get lost he just ventures out into the garden. This problem may be arising more because he is inside all the time! My cat is being very territorial and hisses and spits all the time and I miss her as she is always outside!

I have 2 cats and one kitten they both accepted the new arrival!!!
but when i had charlie (my oldest) and then got oscar as a kitten he was not accepted for ages!!
charlie would spit and hiss at him even turn his back so he didnt have to look at the kitten.
but gradually they became friends and started to play together!!!
so dont worry just give them alittle time to get used to each other!!
you cat is probably just jealous!!
my 3 all lie together now!!
but my new kitten seems to prefer charlie to oscar!!

Time is usually the key. We have two older cats who we thought would never accept a new cat in the house, but they eventually calmed down and accepted it when we adopted a new kitten. By being outdoors Eddie isn't getting much of an opportunity to get to know the new kitten...if it were me I'd bring Eddie in and work on slowly introducing her to the new kitten. She would be much safer and you can keep a closer eye on her behavior. I worry so much about outdoor cats getting hurt and lost
But do introduce them slowly...when they are together try playing to distract them from being upset, or giving them treats...make it a positive experience. Good luck! Keep us posted
