I just thought y'all might want to know that Belle's tail is actually "acting" a little better today. I noticed just a few minutes ago (around 6:30 pm EST), after her day of napping (probably the best thing for it if it's an injury anyway!) that she is holding it a little higher. It still doesn't stand up straight all the time, but she raises and lowers it at will. The tip of her tail twitches when she watches the birds or activities going on outside. And when she first stands up to walk around, her tail is elevated. It just gradually lowers, as thought it takes too much energy to keep it up. (It isn't floppy or useless - at all.)
This has really been upsetting to me, making me remember Lily's tail issues. Belle has not been abused, and I know that for a fact, but it's just a terrible thing to think about Lily when I see Belle's tail acting kinda droopy and looking unlike its usual self.
I'll post what the vet says when she sees her in the morning. (Appointment is at 11:00.) Given the improvement that today has brought, I feel like the vet probably won't suggest a real need for x-rays, but I'm probably going to insist --- don't you think that would be the best course of action? I mean, if it's just a sprain, I'll rest easier knowing that it's not a bone issue or disk (or whatever is in the caudal bones of the tail).

Susan~
After reading your post about Belle, I wonder if this is a normal action.
My two girls do not hold there tail all the way up in the air all the time. Their tail seems to have different levels when they walk around.
For your own peace of mind, do have Belle checked again and let us know the outcome.
