Mary-....

Post by momPaws »

I think you will especially like this quote...

"In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn’t merely try to train him to be semihuman. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog."

[I think more people should be more dog-like...ie loyal, loving unconditionally, impulsively happy and fun!...] there must be more...

momPaws, this is a GREAT quote!

I really do like it! I love the fact that Mr. Blue has abilities and talents far different from anything I can do, and that I get to watch him when he's doing them. Me being me, of course, I wish I could know just how he does some things, like read people so well. Who said this, if you know? I could see where I might want to share it with others.

credit for quote: Edward Hoagland (b. 1932), U.S. novelist, essayist. "Dogs and the Tug of Life," in Harper’s (New York, Feb. 1975; repr. in Heart’s Desire, 1988).

Not only with dogs and, as Jason says, cats, but also this has been true of many horses I have known....

Thanks Mom Paws... if I ever get out of the mad whirl of strange stuff happening to me this year, I will go down to the neighborhood branch library and read up on this author - have at the moment only a very vague recollection of the name.... :)
