Who's right?

Post by Mewmew Butler »

Hello everyone my husband and I have a disagreement concerning our male cat.He is an indoor cat and when he got old enough I wanted to have him fixed so he wouldn't try to get out.Hubby says there's no way he could smell a cat in heat from indoors and if we just watched whenever we went outside there's no way he'd get out.I said if he wants out bad enough he'll slip thru regardless of how careful we are.He still says I wasted money having Rhett fixed.Could you please help us resolve this argument?

Your husband needs an education. And, you are right.

Benifits of Spay & Neuter

Yes, he can smell the scent of an outdoor female in heat. Yes, he will have a tendency to roam/desire to get outside. Yes, he may start marking/spraying if unneutered. Yes, there are potential health concerns for cats who are not spayed or neutered. Yes, the benefits far outweigh the risk.

I agree please get him neutered for his own health and your peace of mind.

Uneutered males do spray, and will jump through a screen to get at a female in heat.

It is advisable to spay and neuter as young as your vet will do the surgery.
