Ok, so you're more comfortable with taking your first vet's advice, waiting for the catheter procedure only. If that's the case, go with your gut feeling, but just make sure you have all the available information before you to make an informed decision. Ask the questions of her that you had planned. I would just hate to see this as something that could be treated, but not treated, and his suffering needlessly.

Sorry, I should be clearer - the internal specialist said a scope is too dangerous because he's so small and his bladder/urethra so delicate. Her fear is perforation because of the original bladder damage when it ruptured and then the issues he's having now. She said it was more likely that the procedure would go wrong than right, and that I'd still be charged for the anaesthesia even if the procedure didn't complete. So it was her recommendation to do the catheter procedure, I'm just going to do it with my regular vet.
