Davet

Post by k9Karen »

I haven't posted for a while, but I'm here with some very sad news. AmandasMom sent me a PM today to let me know her Dad, davet, passed away this morning. According to her message, he broke his hip a couple of weeks ago and it was just too hard on him and he passed in his sleep early this morning. I've missed his posts and stories here, and I know many of you have as well. I met him once when he was down in Florida, and he was such a great guy - what a huge personality! I send my deepest sympathies to his family. I know he will be missed.

Thank you Karen, for letting us know. I had a feeling we were not going to be enjoying his antics here on the forum again, but was so hoping and praying he was doing well.

What a great loss. So many years online together, so much great advice he gave both in vet med and people skills, a realist, a humorist, (and a musician!)a dedicated veteran, a great veterinarian and a great person - probably many many more things we still didn't know about him. I'm so glad we had the opportunity to give him a birthday bash here when we did, that was so much fun.

Rest In Peace, Dr. Hyatt, you will be missed but never ever forgotten, thank you for all you've done for animals and pets everywhere, and for all of us here as well.

Our deepest condolences to Amandas' Mom, Corrine, and the kids who's names I've forgotten, you're in our hearts and prayers in this difficult time.

He will be missed but we did find a folder called Funeral Plans. Just like davet to plan the whole thing out for us. I'm in charge of dressing him in a Hawaiian shirt and the loudest tie I can find. He said if people don't walk away laughing, he will haunt me forever. He left us notes which had the entire family laughing. He even wrote his own obituary.

We will miss him but I'm glad its over. He had been in so much pain and frustrated that his mind was going. He left us with and endless supply of funny memories.

Ok so I don't know my password and have no idea what email I used to get in here like.. 45 years ago. But call me Kevin.. if this even posts!
I am sorry to see that Davet has passed. I have to say that I think of him a lot when dealing with my dog now. He was a talented gifted man that had a quick wit and a kind heart. He helped on line more people than he could ever know and I am quite sure that in real life the lives he touched are endless. God speed Davet and rock steady.

Geez Kev, it's not like I have those topsecret decoders anymore. Just use your first name and this secret encoded pw in teeny tiny text kevthespy and when you log in, immediately change that to whatever you want so you can remember it and so I can delete this topsecret encoded message that the whole world can see.

Amandasmom - can't you just see him at The Bridge surrounded by furry love! I didn't know him that well, but I can't imagine anything more wonderful. Yes, he is definitely their friend.

Amanda's Mom, thank you for sharing that Davet had everything planned out, I'm trying not to laugh out of respect, but then, to honor Davet, I'm going to just go in another room and ROTFLMAO. Always such a ham, you are blessed to have had him all to yourself :)

Here's his obituary. I received this today from Betsy (Amandasmom):
Dr. C.B. (Bud) Hyatt, a retired veterinarian, formerly of Elkins Park, PA. Survived by Corinne, his wife of 62 years, seven great children and their spouses; Debbie, Jim (Kathy), Betsy (Scott), Patty (Joe), Doug (Marcelle), Meg (John) and Tom; 10 wonderful grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 1.5 great-great-grandchildren.
Bud was a WWII veteran of the Army Air Corps, having enlisted at the age of 16, and was attached to the Ninth Air Force. Following his military service, he graduated from Bucknell University and Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine. He established his veterinary practice at the Elkins Park Veterinary Hospital and Kennel in 1957, and continued practicing for 45 years.
In addition to taking care of his family and animals, he had a passion for history and was a ham radio operator. Bud spent his retirement years volunteering at Holy Redeemer hospital and playing bass guitar in swing - 40's era bands. In lieu of flowers or donations to charities, Bud asked that friends spend time with their children or grandchildren doing something that will inspire them to do something special with their lives- maybe a trip to a museum, zoo, sporting event, or concert or anything. If they ask, tell them that this was in honor of an old friend who liked kids, oh yeah, and animals too.
His service will be at http://www.lifecelebration.com/loc-mon- ... vnish.html on Saturday, March 12th. Viewing is between 9 and 11am and service at 11am
