They are on Friskies special diet because it was the only one I could find with no carbs that kept Chunk's PH levels and blood sugar in check and had no fish. My vet approved the choice given some of the issues we've dealt with. They've done well on it this far until this.

So now I'm trying Doc on the W/D and will have Chunk checked when I take Doc back in several weeks and go from there.

The cloudiness appears to be getting slightly worse. The vet said this was one of the milder cases she has seen. How long before I see improvement? She said to definitely bring him back in less than a week if it did not improve. It seems to be more cloudy since the dilation has went down. Otherwise he's eating and acting normally. He tolerates the application of the ointment fairly well.

It depends, particularly on the cause (and lipemia wouldn't exactly be primary cause).

What is the ointment, and the drops the vet gave you? Are they topical corticosteroids or topical NSAIDS? Did she rule out corneal ulcer? (topical steroids may not be a good choice if there is an ulcer, otherwise might be ok).

Did Doc have any fights/scratches with the other cats, hurt himself, have a fall or anything that would be considered an eye or face trauma recently?

I would call the vet first thing in the morning and tell her the cloudiness is increasing, as she'll want to re-evaluate the drops/ointment and decide if one or both or a combination of them is warranted to prevent more cloudiness, prevent pain, prevent inflammation. In the meantime, try to keep him out of very bright lighting, loud noises etc, because if he's in the least painful, it might feel like a headache and light etc might aggravate it.

Did the vet do a CBC today? If not, please do NOT opt for ORAL prednisone etc without first getting a CBC done - with his history you don't want to risk suppressing his immune system with ORAL pred. I think the topical pred or dex drops or ointments could be fine, but you have to discuss this thoroughly with the vet.

If the cloudiness does not reside in a few days despite eye meds, you might want to rule out underlying problems (like toxo, systemic infection, virus, etc) but at this point, find out about the eye drops/ointment first.

I think the vet ran a chem panel. At any rate his eye looks better this morning, still cloudy but not as much as it appeared last night. We are thinking that it likely happened when him and chunk were wrestling. But Tim said he also turned while running through the bedroom door and whacked his head on the door jamb the other day. Vet thinks it was likely the cat wrestling since it didn't show up until several days after the door whack. He never showed any signs of eye injury though. Anyway....keeping a close eye!! Bless his heart, he snuggled next to me all night.

Still looking good today and his eye has maintained the dilation from yesterday so I did not have to apply more atropine this morning.
