Omega 3s

Post by ginger »

I want to start Mack on Omega 3s... does anyone have any recommendations? He has very bad inhalent allergies and I'm sure he could benefit from this... my vet suggested 3v caps, but I'm looking for all suggestions...

...by Drs. Foster & Smith. I like it that I can order them myself, so we've always got them available. I showed their ingredients to our vets, and they said that would be fine to give our allergy hound.

I doubt they will do much for environmental allergies..

But I supplement Scrib's diet daily with a EPA/DHA fish oil concentrate (1000 mg) from Vitaminshoppe.com. I take the same supplement/dose every day as it contains the most useful w-3 FAs needed by our bodies.

Omega-3's

If you have access to a brand called NOW, (I get these at a nutrition center) they have 200 softgels of Omega-3 Fish oil concentrate (1000 mg) that is molecularly distilled (to ensure the absence of potentially harmful contaminants including mercury) for (anyway, that is what I pay for it) $8.29. I give these to my dogs and also give Vitamin E-200 IU (NOW also has this and it is the natural vitamin E, not synthetic) along with it to prevent oxidation. I pay $5.95 for 100 softgels. I have checked lots of brands, but this brand has been the best and cheapest that I can find. They are also "people supplements and vitamins" so feel they are better quality than what I could get if buying 'pet" vitamins.

These have really helped their coats and skin and have helped the health of my congestive heart failure dog.
