Hello everyone, I been gone for many years keeping up with life and had to actually look up my password on here.
It pains me unbelievable to say we had to have our poor little boy Rusty put to sleep this past Sat. Rusty had been sick for several months and was not improving at all. We had him to the vet twice to no avail First time got him on clavamox(sp?) and prednisone, tumil. Said he had bad kidney or bladder infection. He would drink water constantly, but the vet said it was just going straight thru him. After the first visit and him not improving I asked about the FeLV test done when we first got him. Though it was negative he agreed sometimes the first test can miss it. So we did another and it came back negative again.
Meanwhile Rusty lost a lot of weight, had major problems walking with his back legs. He woud walk on his front paws and drag his rear legs. Not all the time but maybe most of it. Also could no longer jump up on counters or beds. He would put his front legs up and grip bed with rear legs to get up. In addition he had no controll of his bladder or BM
We took him in saturday to get put to sleep. My wife held him while I petted his head. OMG this is the hardest thing I have ever in my life done My head tells me he's not suffering anymore, but my heart feels like its broken forever and I just want to hold him again.
Under Great Pain
Re: Under Great Pain
I cannot say for certain, but I wonder if this was perhaps diabetic neuropathy, or some form of renal failure. What matters is that you truly did everything you possibly could do for little Rusty, and it is so evident just how much you loved him.
He reminds me so much of my Cotton (whom I lost to renal failure), Rusty was so precious and beautiful, Double R! ((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))
