Sat down at my desk this evening after a long day at work...to a mushy pile of vomit planted strategically in front of my keyboard...thankfully not ON it...with a worm on top.....sooo....a round of deworming meds for everyone....UGH!
Then....I told my husband about it...he is out of town this week...and he asked me which one did it...like I can tell who's puke it is by sight....
at least my vet bill is paid off...for once!

Do you still have the two kittens? Were they ever dewormed? If you don't have mice in the home and the other cats aren't allowed outdoors, it's possible the kittens need to be dewormed.

Yes, they did get their two doses, but someone still slipped them by along the way. At least it is "just worms" and easy to deal with and remedy.

What were the type of worms you found? Ideally, kittens should be dewormed for both roundworms and tapeworms.
Also, for future reference, worms are not a simple problem, they can debilitate a kitten or cat, deplete them of vital nutrition, cause intestinal impactions and serious infections.

oh I know what worms can do...but they are at least easy to get rid of and there is no excuse to not get rid of them...the medicine is cheap and easy to administer at approx $3 a dose at 30 days apart...
I do not know what the dewormer is that the vet gives me, I have never asked...it is a yellow paste, in a syringe, given 30 days apart...according to weight...so when kittens of course they are in for shots etc so get it then while at the vet...but when I see a worm at home, like now...I just weight each cat on my digital scale (hold and weigh me with and without each cat) and take that weight list in to get the proper dosage for each one, and come home with a few syringes and a bottle of yellow liquid with the dosage amount written beside each name on my list...they draw the liquid for me to bring home from a larger bottle in their fridge and put it into a smaller bottle with the syringe cap stretched over the top so I can push he syringe in, tip it and fill it without a messy lid...

It's Strongid-T, and only for roundworms (roundworms are long spagetti-like). If you found a tapeworm, it won't be effective (tapeworms are short, rice-like).
Also, Strongid-T is usually given 14 days apart, but you should confirm that with your vet, especially regarding the kittens and their health status.

thank you...I was thinking drondid and I knew that was not right...so describing it I knew you wold know...
and yes, I did forget to answer the what type...a common typical roundworm...thank goodness that is the only kind of worm I have ever seen or want to see...
I will ask about the 14 days...because when I have ever gotten it in the past, they tell me 30 days...so maybe that is why it did not work on the kittens...or whoever has these in thier system?
(I am off to sleep...rough night with hubby gone and son going bonkers...and work ethical issues....my mind is spinning and I need to sleep and can't!)

I've always given Strongid-T 14 days apart, especially in kittens, with a relatively low dose (based strictly on weight). Confirm that with your vet.
And yes, if the interval between doses is not quite correct, meds won't have quite the intended effect.
