I lost my Allie tonight.
Re: I lost my Allie tonight.
I received this in a private message on FaceBook from a very old friend (someone I went to Junior High with in Virginia - we found each other totally by accident - we both had the same friend that I knew from Florida and he knew from Wright Patterson AFB in Ohio). This is so true!
Inner Peace
If you can start the day without caffeine,
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when your loved ones
are too busy to give you any time,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,
If you can conquer tension without medical help,
If you can relax without alcohol,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,
Then You Are Probably

I know you are all going to think I've gone crazy, but Allie was here last night. I woke up and felt a dog on my foot. I moved the foot, and the dog moved. My foot moved into a very warm area. I looked, and Dylan was up on the other side of the bed near my hand, and he hadn't moved. Foxy doesn't sleep on the bed; she never would. I guess she wasn't allowed to do that in a former home and still doesn't think she should. It had to be Allie (or one of the others I've lost, but Allie makes the most sense).

Karen, by now, you should know that we're the last people to think you've gone crazy... and the first to agree with you that it almost certainly was Allie. Letting you know she's safe and loves you.
Re: I lost my Allie tonight.
You're not crazy. I think most of us have had loved ones visit us in some form or another, whether presence or in a dream, it's a much needed comfort. And I agree with Slvr, Allie wanted to let you know she's ok, and watching over you now.
I love the "Inner Peace" wisdom, how true.
The french fry, you're not alone. I've done so many different things after a precious loss, that it is just a natural thing to do. Every day I think of my loved ones and miss them greatly, and there are still routines where I still think of them all the time. How could we not, they remain a part of us, forever.

Out of all my cats, my Simon was the only one who would jump up on my hip when I'd be lying on my side and position himself in the curve of my waist. I would tap my side and he would knead into my aching back giving me a special kitty massage. After he passed away, there have been a few times I've felt that in my sleep, wake up and find that no cat was near me. Crazy? nahhh It's that comforting connection we'll always have with our pets.

I would give anything to have that happen. I have never had a visit from any of my pets. I am so happy for those of you who have had that great love. I don't think it's crazy at all.

Hasn't happened recently, but I've had a similar experiences a year or two after Willow died. I'd feel her at the foot of my bed, and it wasn't any of the other cats. So if you are crazy, so are the rest of us. ((((hugs))))

I had a similar experience as I was waking up after my brain surgery in 2009. I was on my right side, and beside me was a very fluffy dog. I was petting the dog's muzzle (I love noses and paws - don't know why, but my dogs have to learn to put up with me petting muzzles and holding paws). I heard my daughter's voice, and I turned toward her - the dog was gone. I never knew which dog it was, and to this day, I'd give anything to know which one was with me during the worst crisis of my life

Re: I lost my Allie tonight.
When my father was killed, I had dreams with him for years and years, and most of them were tidbits of "wisdom" he gave to me that I believe he would have in life (I would never have thought about those tidbits on my own). Other aspects were fleeting glimpses of things we were sharing in life that we never got a chance to. What was most profound to me was that he was always there "taking care of" me.
When my grandmother passed away, I asked of her spiritually that if she could, to try to enter my dreams and let me know she was ok. One night later, she did, and said things that were only so typical of her. What was unique to me is that we had a short question and answer session (I asked if she was ok and a few other things) and her answers were calming and soothing, something she always did in life.
I have had several pets visit my dreams, have felt their presence, etc. Some of them have not visited, and while I don't understand why, perhaps it is human selfishness to expect they would or should. I believe they know better than I.
I believe it was ALL of your pets, Karen, who visited you in the hospital, or perhaps one who was the caretaker, nuturer, in your dog family, what was more important is that they were there, bringing love and comfort and solace to you in a time of need.

Mickey was the nurturer. He always knew when I was upset or not feeling well. I'd sit down to watch TV, and he'd immediately jump into my lap with no warning. If I was in bed, he would lie down beside me with his head on my shoulder or chest. Just having him there always made me feel better. The evening I brought Allie home from being spayed, I put her down on the floor after I carried her into the house. Mickey came running, gave her a head-to-toe sniffing, gave me a dirty look, and then wrapped his head around hers to give her a big hug. He fussed and complained, whined and growled to show his emotions and was quite a talker. I still really miss that dog!
