My cat is about 13 years old and she has stopped eating. We took her to the vet and they took x-rays and could find nothing wrong. We then gave her wet food which we don't normally do and ate it. After a few days she stopped eating this too, and she is becoming very very skinny. We have no idea what's wrong and i am worried that we might have to put her down. Please suggest something or is you have any ideas of what the problem might be. Thanks,
Melanie T.

Re: My Cat won't eat
Mel, you mentioned x-rays but not bloodwork, was NO bloodwork done at all? If not, get your kitty to the nearest ER vet clinic ASAP and request full blood profiling, including thyroid function. What you really want to pay attention to is liver and kidney function, so ask for a full geriatric or endocrine blood profile. You need to rule out liver or kidney disfunction, heart disease, thyroid disfunction, diabetes, etc.
Don't delay, kitties who suffer anorexia and do not get their sufficient nutrition can fail from severe liver disease. The weight loss is concerning, this too can lead to liver failure and diabetes. Please get your kitty seen again immediately by an ER vet. I can't stress this enough, she probably needs fluid support right now, as well as agressive nutritional support, only an ER vet can test for, and advise you further.

Re: My Cat won't eat
Yes please call and get your cat to another facility for bloodwork and fluids right away. Not eating can lead to further damage to the liver and kidneys which will not be reversible after awhile. Do not delay.
Good luck to you.
