Silly cats and their strange peculiarities!

Post by Tina B and crew »

Lucy, for instance, doesn't care for treats except for when you first open the bag of treats. She will eat those but once the bag has been open she turns her nose up at them. She's the same with canned food. She will eat it when it comes from a newly opened can but will hardly touch it when it comes from a can that has been refrigerated. She's the same with catnip. She prefers it when I first bring it home but once it has been sitting for a while she isn't as interested. Finicky is her middle name apparently.

How about your pets? Any peculiarities?

I'm thinking our females, being the princesses they are, are the most finicky.

Cairo just looks at, and sniffs at catnip. Ground, flaked, leafed, from the garden, she refuses to eat catnip. She is barely interested in catnip toys, I don't get it. Cody and Cerenade on the otherhand will literally attack you for catnip, we usually have quite the mess to clean up when playtime is over. The rest of my cats are fairly normal concerning canned food or catnip. Offer it to them, they accept

One of my stray boys will not touch canned food, nor treats, of any variety (unless it's cooked chicken, what cat doesn't love cooked chicken). He loves the garden catnip however.

I tried a skineeze mouse toy on my kitten (Tawni), it's her favorite toy ever. Unfortunately, it's everyone else's favorite too, and it has been slobbered on to the extreme - apparently, slobber makes it better?

Lucy LOVES catnip from the garden! Chunk isn't interested in catnip much at all. Doc goes maniacal when he gets it.

Chunk rotates between favorite toys. When he is obsessed with one none of the others will do. They can be identical and it doesn't matter. I have to cut tails and ears off mouse toys or he will eat them.

And yes, slobber makes everything better. Especially when it is to be deposited in your bed, at night, while you are sleeping.

I just saw this image and thought "yep, this is how they get away with their peculiarities!"

Nothing to do with food, treats or catnip but when I go to bed at night, Katie will swat all others away so she can get under the covers, in the crook of my arm and knead for 10 minutes. By then the others have settled into their spots on my bed, on my head, on me. Just as if an alarm goes off, after 10 minutes, she crawls out and goes to her corner of the bed. This happens every night.

Cleo, your Katie and my Christabel could be twins, she does the exact same thing!!

Tina, love the graphic, LOL, so true!

I too have to cut off pieces and parts off the toys, of course they no longer resemble what they originally were, but do the cats care? I think not, LOL.

Gump is my only one who really LOVES catnip...and when I bring in fresh leaves for everyone, he eats his then goes around and finds what the others did not eat...then sprawls on the floor!

Image

I need to get a video of Tawny....any time he sees my husband, who states that he hates cats  Tawny will slowly stand up. walk his front paws up my husbands belly and chest, to full length...then start stroking his feet up and down waiting to be petted....LOL

My Roo is such a baby...he springs straight up into my arms, from the floor, to tuck his head in underneath my hair and nuzzle a my ear...

DeeDee and Sissy and Skittles all 3 only ever want to be held and petted on THEIR terms...

The others really do not have anything specific that they do.....other than the kittens of course.....

Stormie and Roxie...they will tear through the house, leaping and jumping at each other...then hiding around a corner or behinda door to jump out and make the other one jump up about 3 feet...their latest and funnest toy is a big box that my husband (who hates cats) cut a hole in each side so they can chase each other in and out and about, but no worries about anyone getting trapped in there by another one (again, his idea)
