Keep the prayers coming for Doc - UPDATE OCT 24th

Post by Tina B and crew »

He was just re-admitted tonight after his temp kept climbing this afternoon. He was still eating very well, but he just looked like he felt bad. I am hoping and praying that this can get nipped in the bud quickly and easily! Poor little guy has been through too much. :(

Our prayers continue for little Doc, he's a fighter and a trooper, and he'll get through this! Hang in there, Doc, we're pulling for you, sweetie!

I could use a prayer or two myself. The stress on me continues to mount and I need to be present for Doc...

You know, I don't know what I'd do without all of you. I have been a wreck over this, and part of my problem is I do a lot of what ifs (like what if it's something bad, what if my savings runs out and I can no longer afford the treatment) so I have been a basket case. Just when things seem to be going along nicely something else happens. It's like this great big test and I feel like I'm failing. Not many people understand my dedication to a "scruffy ol stray tom cat" - seriously, they don't. You all do and you don't know how much I appreciate it.

If I added up all the money I've spent on my cats, strays, ferals, friends' cats, supplies, vet care, food, kittyhouses, etc etc, I would probably be in my new home by now with half the mortgage paid, LOL.

But, I'm where I'm at, and I am happy, and can live with that. All the love, the gratitude, all the sharing/bonding, cuddling, playful antics and looks into my eyes that they love me, I wouldn't trade for all the money in the world.

Life is too short not to be blessed with loving and caring for these special critters and getting so much from them in return. To me, that is my reality.

Ditto what Traci said. My reality is that unspoken gratitude in their eyes.

UPDATE -

Doc and Tina need our prayers more than anything right now.

Doc's pathology results came back with a diagnosis of hemangiosarcoma, affecting primarily the spleen - this is an aggressive neoplasia that can affect subcutaneous skin, the spleen, or any major vital organ, and is rare in cats. Treatment options include surgery (which he has had/splenectomy), chemotherapy, radiation, or a combination of the two.

Doc's vets are consulting specialists and available research for treatment options for Doc. Unfortunately, it is too difficult to predict outcome, as the prognosis is usually guarded. That Doc is recovering from two major invasive surgeries just one week apart is testament to his strength and strong will.

He is feeling better than he was when Tina took him in on emergency Monday night - he's in good spirits, still eating, and was so happy to see Tina yesterday! This morning, his temperature is normal, he continues to eat, he is off IV fluids, and is being monitored closely. His vets may release him in another day or two.

Please, keep prayers coming for Doc and Tina, this is such a trying time for both of them. Doc is such a sweetheart, please keep sending healing vibes, thoughts and prayers his way!
