Yes. I took that yesterday. Of course remember he had just got some pain meds so he was a bit out. Nonetheless he still doesn't feel well.

Re: Doc is in surgery
I really need some good strong prayer and positive vibes today. Every time Doc makes progress something else pops up. He's still not eating, but is holding down the food they are syringe feeding him. The surgery seemed to be a success, as all the barium has passed from his stomach into his colon and he is not throwing up. BUT, his fever spiked this morning, his WBC is very high, and his ALT (liver) is, as the vet put it, off the charts. He's very sick. I have made the choice to take him to the vet school so they can do a diagnostic ultrasound to find out what is going on in his abdomen. What our treatment is after that will depend on what they find. I am not made of money, and can hardly afford all that I am doing, but I have to give him this one last chance. Please, please, please say a prayer for him today. I know he's a fighter, but he's spent too much of his life fighting. My heart hurts so much right now seeing him go through this.

Re: Doc is in surgery
Tentative good news! I'm afraid to get too excited though.
Ultrasound showed quite a bit of inflammation in Doc's abdomen but the fluid sample they drew didn't show any bacteria under the microscope. However, just to be safe they are going to culture it, but it looks like the cause of his discomfort and fever was just the inflammation. They are going to keep him on a day by day basis, give him support care, try to get him to eat and drink on his own and bring the fever down before they send him home, which is fine with me. I want him to come home but I don't want to end up having to take him back if he has a setback. What this means is no surgery right now!! I can't tell you the relief I felt when she told me that!! Than you all for your thoughts and prayers...it means the world to me. This has been a rough, rough week for me. I can't rest yet because I've let my academic work slip and now I have to catch up...ugh!!

Tina, we're so happy and relieved! I'm so happy he's at VA Tech in caring hands (not that your vet wasn't, I'm sure he is great), and Doc remains in our thoughts and prayers for a continued recovery!!
