Addition to foung preg cat please help

I am sorry to bother everyone. while monitoring the mommy cat today I see that she has feed them and eaten also . however it is normal for her to lay about 1 foot away from the kittens when they are sleeping? I saw her feeding earlier ( looked in and she did not see me now 45 minutes later they are all curled up and momm is about 1-2 feet away in the nest area. I thought the new mommies were stayed curled up with the kittens to make sure they are warm . mommy is not bleeding any more and still seeks attention from me whenever she see me so I try to not let her see me much. We think that whoever owned her kicked her out when she got preg and I feel she just need a ton of attention and love after being abondanded. I am worried that she is not taking proper care of the kittens cause of that. However If I shake the towel to make them wake up and cry she will go to them. Sorry not a freaked out person by nature just want to make sure I am doing what is right for both mother and kittys.

cats are lke new huan mothers,,some time they just want a break and i suspect this is what your cat is doing.. as long as she sneks in an feed thwm once in a while they will do ok,,,
