My Friend's Furkid, Blaze

Post by Tambrey »

I met Amanda and Rob when I designed their landscape last summer and we became friends....she posted on her FB a while ago that Blaze was in emergency surgery following and incident with a bigger dog...I do not know any more right now....

Blaze is an adorable little foofoo type of dog...for the life of me, I cannot remember her breed right now...but I know her mummy and daddy and furless brothers are frantic with worry....they love their little Blaze so very much...

They are asking for prayers, positive energy, good vibes...whatever can be sent, to get to Blaze and she goes through surgery tonight and recovery tonight and tomorrow...hopefully I will know more tomorrow

Thank you Traci....Amanda and her family were able to say goodbye to Blaze....the surgery confirmed that the bite had punctured through to her spinal cord...their oldest son was at camp, so he did not get to say goodbye...but they are going to get him and bring him home early...

Thank you...and from what I hear from others....is that the dog that did this has done it before...this is the second little dog that has died because of a bit from the bigger one....they did not mention what kind of bigger dog...but regardless....something does need to be done about that one...unfortunately, it may be more owner related (lack of proper handing and training) than the dog's fault....I am one that is always quick to look at the owners rather than the dog

Oh Tambrey...I am so sorry for your friend's family and poor Blaze.

I agree, it is most always the owner and not the dog. Like some parents, owners think their dogs can do no harm. I've seen too many incidents like this. A good friend of mine had a poodle attacked by a large Rott/Shepherd mix..nearly crushed the poor little dogs rib cage, was shaking her like a toy. The owner is MOST definitely at fault because the dog was either not leashed or one one of those long extendible leashes (I can't recall the scenario, it's been nearly 10 years ago) and the owner had no control. In this case as well it was not the first complaint against the dog but nothing was done if I recall. Fortunately the poodles survived.
