Another stray showed up
Re: Another stray showed up
Great pics! And we can see by the way he poses that this cat, while straying for some reason out of his control, was never a feral... SO glad you didn't have to have one of his pretty ears disfigured!

Just an FYI on some of Doc's little personality traits.
He LOVES to hide around the corner and attack you when you walk by. So cute when he peaks around to see if I'm coming or not. If I don't he will wiggle and run toward me in this cute, lumbering sort of manner.

You're doing such a fantastic job with Doc, Tina, it sounds like all he really needed was a whole lot of love!

Re: Another stray showed up
We had some excitement (not the good kind) last night and today. That derecho that caused so much destruction and power outages in the Ohio valley, WV, and VA came right over us too. Winds were fierce last night. I heard a very loud roar, like a jet engine and thought for sure it was a tornado. Managed to get Doc into his carrier but my two cats hid and I couldn't get them contained before this massive, violent windstorm hit us. Brought down trees, power line, and tore up my big patio table, but the cats and humans here are fine. Doc was a bit frightened after it all but he's fine today. Of course after that adrenaline rush our power went out and our generator decided to not work. So we were without power over night and most of today. I darkened up Doc's space and it stayed relatively cool. I don't think it ever topped 85 degrees - outside temps reached 100+. Finally got a service call on our generator and now we have AC...all is well for us. But so many more have no power in this horrible heat wave.

Oh my goodness, honey.
I'm so glad you're all okay. I didn't even realize you were in the path of that storm. That was brutal. Watching it develop on radar was just chilling...
How bad is the damage to your property?

I'm glad everyone is OK. I hope the damage is minimal. It sounds like it went over you. We had a tornado go by about a mile from us while we were on vacation. It was caused by one of the feeder bands from hurricane Debby. Fortunately it was far enough away not to affect us at all. It did very little damage - it touched down mostly in undeveloped areas (which are getting fewer and fewer around here).

Only damage we had was a few downed trees and a broken glass patio table. We were lucky in that respect. Power is on but something is messed up in the relay box that switches power from the utility pole to the generator so we have no power coming into the house. Thankfully we have the generator but hate using up the propane when we know we have power coming to the utility pole! But you do what you have to do.
I think I got dehydrated yesterday in the heat, feeling kind of sick today. Not going to get much done in the way of clean up since we are suppose to be near 100 degrees again.

Re: Another stray showed up
Sorta maybe? I got a call about my application to one place yesterday. I just hate my work schedule, working 9-8 makes it real hard to get a hold of anybody. But this is one of the places I've been looking at since the beginning. I've already seen the place, I just need the application to be approved. So. I'm hoping that was a "yes, let's sign paperwork" call.

Woot!! Fingers crossed!
Doc is doing fine. He did escape the other night, just ran by my leg as I opened the door. He didn't go far and I was able to grab him right up and put him back inside. Thank goodness!
Not trying to rush or anything, just trying to get a feel of when I might need to transport him since I'm trying to find some part time work for the rest of the summer. Not being too successful, but I'm also not looking terribly hard. Now that our company is gone it will be easier for me to focus on that though.
