I'm so happy to hear Biber is feeling so much better!

However, did you get her seen on Friday? Did the vet look at xrays and make another opinion? I'm assuming you want to try medications first, as you're doing now, is that the plan?

Yes. The vet looked at the X-Rays and he believes Biber has megacolon. He likes to continue with the medication first. The way I understand, even though her hernia needs to be taken care of, the underlying cause for that is megacolon. So there is a chance that hernia might reoccur if megacolon is not treated first. However it seems like that hernia is having a horse shoe shape it is also effecting Biber's bowel movement problems (large pieces getting stuck because of horse shoe shape). I will keep her monitoring and let you know about her progress. Thanks for your help Traci.

Yes, that's usually how it works, although it depends on the seriousness of the condition - if there is a stricture that is preventing normal bowel habits on a frequent or debilitating basis, then surgery is usually recommended. I would however, consider a specialist's opinion first, unless the second vet is actually a board-certified feline specialist in this field.
