My Friend's doxie

Post by Tambrey »

Asking for Prayers for Lovie...my friend's doxie goes to work with her and everywhere...She has been attacked and is on the way to the vet as I am typing this...Helen posted a message from her phone asking for prayers...she just said that Lovie was attacked and they were heading to the vet, but no other information at this time..

I will post more as I know more...

This is the second time this poor dog has been attacked...the first was a number of years ago (she is not a youngster) at a rest stop...my friend had her on a leash to go for a walk and potty, and an unleashed dog ran up and attacked her then, so she is afraid of other dogs since then.

update...Helen still has not mentioned how Lovie was attacked, but she has a neck and shoulder injury, so is currently on pain meds and total crate rest until next follow up

more update
No open wounds. I believe she was trying to defend herself against a wandering yellow lab like dog. She can't turn neck to right n doesn't put full weight on r f paw.

Bless her little heart - what a terrible thing to happen. I'm sure she stood her ground - Doxies are tough little critters and never back down. Sending lots of good wishes and hopes for a full recovery her way.

No open wounds is a good sign, since they can fast cause some nasty infections and sepsis. Chances are, these are just soft tissue injuries and sprains (neck and paw, for example), but the vet is right to demand strict cage rest.

Prayers for a quick and safe recovery for little Lovie...

Thanks Traci and KAren...

I have known Helen since she was in 6th grade with my brother and she is also my massage therapist...when she was in training a couple years ago, I was her practice body...LOL...I would go in to class with her and she would work on my neck and shoulder and headaches for sometimes 3-4 hours!

Lovie has a bed in the waiting room at her office and she comes to greet everyone that comes in...but for now, she will be in that portable crate on her meds resting and getting better.
