Update on Layla.. It's been a while but all is well!

Post by drunkmike »

I have been incredibly busy with work and other things lately so I figured I would stop in and say hi and let everyone know that all is well with our new kitten! She has really settled in nice with our small family and thankfully all of her eye issues have been resolved for the time being. She is gaining weight and growing like a weed! She has been given a clean bill of health from her Doctor and the only thing she will be going back for is a spay in another month or so. She is of course still a VERY ornery little girl but that is what you get with a kitten! She has free roam of the house while we are home but were having a problem with her getting into the sink and on the kitchen counter which is pretty much the only no no around here. We got a product made by "Ssscat" which is a compressed air can with a electronic motion sensor on top and luckily she has only had 1 run in with it and refuses to get back up there anymore! Highly recommended product! Anyway, all is well and hopefully with the weather starting to get cold work will slow down and I will be able to stop in more often. I have tons of pictures to upload but this is one of the more recent ones of the 2 sisters sleeping together peacefully. (The Sheltie is 4 years old and 26 lbs.. The kitten is almost 6 months old, 7lbs and I can see her ending up bigger then the dog if she keeps growing like this!) Hope everyone is doing good and I will try to pop in as much as possible!

Another small thing that I forgot to mention is that she is starting to come around to all of Baxter's belongings that I still had.. At first she refused to go near his hideouts or play with his toys but I just could not bring myself to getting rid of them after he passed and I am glad I did not. She now sleeps in his bed, hides under his blanket, hides in his spots and plays with his toys. I think the he would be proud to have her using his things!

Thank you so much for the update on Layla and her photo!! I am just thrilled to hear all is well!

I too, keep everything from past angel babies, it also serves as something like "keepsakes" for me, as well as being useful to the other kiddens.

Traci - I kept so much from Honey-pup- eventually I had to take a bag full and put in my car- then when I saw any of my friends with their dogs they got a toy. Honey would have liked that...she was generous.

But there are special ones I still keep...esp her little squirrel, Nutsy : )

I'm so glad all is going well. Your sheltie looks alot like my first sheltie, Leah, except that from the picture, your dog appears to be tri-color. My Leah was a tri-factored sable (sable with a lot of black - one parent a tri-color and the other a sable). I can't really see her face, but from what I can see, she and Leah are very similar.

Yes she is indeed a tri colored Sheltie.. in need of a visit to the groomers! :P She really hates getting baths as well as getting trims as you can imagine so I tend to let her be a dirtball for as long as I can before taking her in. Now the kitten is a total opposite.. It's hard to keep her out of the water! Layla will wait outside of the bathroom door when you are taking a shower and immediately jumps into the tub to roll around and get all wet as soon as the door opens!

I've never lived with a cat, but isn't love of water fairly unusual for felines?
