Sleep Well, Majik

Post by Tambrey »

Majik had a heat stroke and it affected him so badly, I told the vet to let him go...

I stayed home with a migraine and throwing up this morning...possibly from heat...who knows....went to hospital for a shot and then on to renew vehicle registrations...

When I found him at home, laying in the entry hall, I got him into my lap right away and ran cold wet towels over his ears and body as I sat in front of a fan...and used a syringe to get some liquid into him, and he also did drink some from a dish of canned cat food I added water to...

I called the vet as soon as they got back from lunch and said I was on my way with him to see what we could do

He was so limp and had urinated on himself, here at home in the hall...mewed weakly..his eyes were glazed....his liver failed because of the heat stroke...rather than trying to bring him back, when he was soo weak....I made the decision to let him go

We have fans placed throughout the house...open windows...I even lay damp towels on the floor...but of course, I cannot MAKE them lay on the towels or in front of fans....

I am really hating this weather this year!

Thanks E's

was just reading on our local TV station website under their weather
Today turned into one of the hottest days of the summer so far as temperatures were hovering around 100 degrees while the heat index was between 115 and 120!
Thankfully there are glorious breezes and LOTS of shade trees around for the dogs and cats outside....but I have herd reports that cattle are succumbing as well.

Safe and gentle journey, sweet Majik. I'm so sorry.

Can't you at least look into used air conditioners? Sales? Something? August is going to be a long month, and this is NOT easy on pets!!

My mom has a window one that she is not using...we are going to go get that from her and put it in the living room window.

So sorry, Tambrey - hugs! I have 2 room a/c's - one up and one down and they keep the whole house cool. Have a third I don't even use... if we were closer would give to you.

Majik was so beautiful...

Thanks.....it was kind of strange lastnight to put out one less food bowl :(

And I had to go looking for Sissy, Majik's sister....when I did find her, she just wanted to be held and kept meowing...and she is NOT one that likes to be held, but she did not want me to put her down....she knows..knew...what happened....I cannot help but wonder if she felt it too :*(

I'm so sorry Tambrey. Heat is always a killer - animals and people. I hope you're able to install that AC unit soon. You, your DH and all your furbabies will feel so much better, even if it only cools one or two rooms. Hugs to you and Sissy
