I have a calico cat who is about 11 years old. I recently noticed this spot on Java's side. She is an indoor/outdoor cat. She is front-declawed. The spot seemed to get bigger recently. It is almost smooth, as if someone shaved it! I am wondering if anyone has any idea what it could be, if it could be something she did to herself, and if I should run to the vet. Thanks.

Weird spot on my cat...
Re: Weird spot on my cat...
May I ask you please resize your photo by about half, then re-post it - otherwise it stretches this page and makes it difficult to see the posts etc on the page.
Yes, whenever there is an obvious change in skin/fur, it demands a prompt vet visit - if it also happens to be a raised bump or lump, this definately demands a prompt vet visit.
Please see Indoors ONLY! Since Java is 11 years old and is also declawed, she is safer indoors only.
While the photo is depicting, it's impossible to determine why the fur loss, and if there is a lump, I can't stress enough, please get her seen by your vet at once - please also get a full blood profile done for her if you haven't had this done in the last year - any cat over the age of 7 should have yearly bloodwork done to check and catch any early and common disease process.
I assume she is up-to-date on her vaccinations? (i.e., rabies, FVRCP and FELV) - if not, and by allowing her outdoors, you're putting her at great risk for these diseases as well as other outdoor hazards.

Thanks for your reply, Traci. Just today I saw her licking the spot, pretty aggressively. I will call the vet ASAP. Yes, she has had her shots, thanks
