Thanks....no he has been indoor only for about 3 years now...since his front left leg was amputated...

yes, Karen, we DO have alot of cats we care for...or attempt to!! I hate when people ask "How many cats do you have?" I do not want to say how many are indoor only because they would think I am nuts...although here double digits seems to be nothing to blink at!!

We currently have 13 indoors...and I feed about 20 more and a possum or two outside...

It has been very cold here with wind chills, but their shelter is actually not too bad and they do use it...the snow has helped build up even more insulation and warming factors around it since we threw it together last fall!

The feeding area, while not insulated but is protected from winds and not too bad in there either...

So yeah...something out of the norm is definitely going on with him...I am just glad that he is sitting rather than laying on the towel...that is a good sign from this morning...he is holding himself up better!

Oh Tambrey...I am sorry to hear about Tripod. My prayers are going out that this is nothing serious and can be treated easily and quickly.

Traci...to be honest, I did not even think to ask her...I just wanted to know if he was same, better, or worse....she felt he seemed a bit better...I will be calling on the road on my way to work tomorrow...they open at 7:30 but I have to be at work at 8...and I missed 2 days due to weather already..

Cuddles is sitting here at the desk with me tonight....Tripod usually sleeps with her....

Thanks for all the good thoughts and wishes....I will update from work as I can...

Well...we just said goodbye

Bloodwork showed kidney failure. I did not ask how bad but he mentioned less than 25% so I went and held him for a while and he talked with me. Then we held him.

You would think it gets easier, but it doesn't...I stood there in the room with him at the kennel, bawling...holding him and talking with him...Tripod was talking back to me, but I know he was tired...his eyes told it all....

The vet apologized to Tripod because he had a difficult time finding a good vein and had to try a few times....Tripod never even flinched...just laid there with his tail twitching as I held his head and his paw and talked to him....

The vet will keep him in their freezer for us until spring. when we can bury him out back with the others...

I'm so sorry, Tambrey, this is such a shock, my heart breaks for you.

Was it acute? If so, please check your home thoroughly for any toxins. It is rare that young cats develop chronic renal failure, it could have been acute, in which you really want to rule out all toxins in the home.

Safe and gentle journey, sweet sweet Tripod, we will miss you so much
