Oh my, this is wonderful news thus far!!! That she took some steps is excellent progress!

By "nodule", do you mean puncture or abcess? Was there an obvious puncture there with infection or bruised skin? Most (vicious) dog bites include punctures and on opposite sides of the area, but playful or gentle dogs don't generally bite through the skin. It's possible, yes, that a dog could have got a leghold, but strange it would be both legs. (unless it was hips, or further up)

Also, this could help explain the high WBC's, not only does infection elevate the WBC but muscle damage does as well. A creatine kinase (Ck or CPK) on the blood profile would probably also show high levels.

puncture but their not even sure it was a dog as they said it not that big but she does have some osteomylitsis. No redness around the area. But she is improving. Slowly. They are letting her come home today with medication, and then she has to go back monday. The puncture is also more inside her thigh which they say their not sure what happen unless she rolled on her back and something bite her. But she also has some infection around her 5th disc which they said no marks or misalignment there. She appears to be in no pain. Still playing, eating and drinking water. Vet says she gained weight. Thanks Traci enjoy your website.

Thank you Mom and Traci. Well she at home right now and she kind of in a stand still mode. No better but no worse. The Vet office called yesterday and said that this will take some time so keep giving her the medication and have her back Monday and if she turns for the worse I have their phone number. She eats (Quite a bit actually), drinks and plays. No problems with using her litter box (Still carry her there).

Well we keep making some progress and the vets have becomed quite attached to Allie Katz (her name now). But I have to say she for me anyways is quite unusal. And the vets just laugh at me when I bring up all her little quirks. She will not let you pet her but will role onto her back and want you to rub her stomach. She also does not meow. Its more like a Murph and bird like sound. But she does walk more now (when she does her tail is always up). But she will only go for short distances still then sit down. She still on her ABT and eats, drinks and is growing. She does not want handled alot though. But I figure thats from all the medication, shots, etc. But will cuddle and purr. Just not a meow.

Not wanting to be handled could be a sign of pain, did the vets ever rule that out? (particularly spine or pelvic area) - I'm still wondering if maybe she fell and no one noticed or won't admit it.

I'm so happy to hear she is making progress, and good progress at that!

Do you happen to have pics of her?

I too am glad that she is improving even if it is slower than you want it to be. I have been thinking of the two of you a lot lately and wondering how it is going.
