Who'll go nuts first, me or Cody?

Post by slvrwhispr »

During the day, Cody runs rampant around our apartment. And I mean... he goes NUTS. He climbs EVERYTHING, he runs around like he's in a race, he kicks everything off of dressers and shelves. He has toys, but lately they haven't been enough to entertain him. Our apartment is SMALL, and I'm fairly certain he's so active because he just needs to find the entertainment. We're moving to a bigger place in August, but it's not August yet. What can I do to keep him from destroying everything we own before we move?

To answer that question, it appears Cody is in the lead

Sounds just like my Cody. He hasn't grown out of it yet (he's approaching 5). He is very spirited, independent and active. He requires constant attention and thrives on getting on my nerves (but I still love him anyway)

I would suggest more of YOUR individual attention, not necessarily toys, unless they are interactive toys, like a kitty tree, jungle gym, or battery operated toys to entertain him. Sounds like he needs lots of stimulation, so try more interactive things. Not knowing how old he is, you might just kitten-proof your home until your new move. Also, if you don't have other cats, at some point, you might consider getting him a companion.

He's about a year and a half old, and rambunctious as all get-out. I love him to bits and pieces, but the "I'm going to kick every object off of every surface I can reach" isn't my favorite game. I play with him CONSTANTLY, lol. He has plenty of interactive play time. But he always wants more, and I can't devote 24 hours a day to the cat, much as I'd like to.

Unrelated, buy my car.

Btw, I posted a short movie clip of my Cody on the Cloud. :)

Have you considered getting him a feline playmate? Or does he have one already?

I *have* considered it. My boyfriend gave me the "You've lost your mind again, haven't you?" look. It's out of the question until we get a bigger place. So, in August, I'm going to bring the issue up again. Cody's young enough that it should be alright to introduce another cat. I'll probably go back to the same shelter that I got Cody from, since they were so awesome with handling their animals last time I was there. They're just really great people.

My little hypers love the cat dancer toy, my big guy loves playing fetch with simple crumpled up pieces of paper. He'll fetch it and bring it back to me endlessly. Cody may or may not catch on to fetch, but I'm sure some quality time with you with the Cat Dancer would help alot. It may even tucker him out.
Good luck!
And congratulations on your bigger place in August!
Kitty kisses,
Debbie
