the latest with Queen Lucy and the Chunkinator

Post by Tina B and crew »

This is going well so far! Chunk has tried to be a butthead a few times and show his dominance, but Lucy essentially gives him no mind when he does it. So she doesn't challenge and she doesn't "submit", she just ignores him. This has kind of diffused his attempts...LOL They have moments where they play with one another and chase one another but as soon as Chunk goes too far and gets rough Lucy stops, swats him, and saunters away. She's so funny! So is Chunk! In fact Chunk seems to have calmed down a bit since bringing Lucy home. I only wish he and Willow could have bonded and got along like this.

Lucy is eating much better than she was before. She still insists on getting her wet food for breakfast and dinner, but once the bowl is empty she will nibble on dry food throughout the day. She does look as if she is starting to fill out some. Chunk isn't eating as much dry food now so I'm not quite so concerned about his weight ballooning up. I put a limited amount in their bowls in the AM and then again in the PM. I've been seeing Lucy at the bowl as much as I have Chunk.

Lucy isn't quite the lap cat that Willow was, nor is she as "attached" as Willow was, but I think that is good for me. She does give me some lap time nearly every day, but she doesn't sleep with me. That's OK, I think I actually am sleeping better with her not moving around on the bed. She is a vocal little girl too!

I am doing OK with respect to my grief over Willow..I have my good days and have my bad days. I've cried more today than I have all week this week. Just really missing her today for some reason. I still can't believe she is gone at times, it seems so wrong, so out of sorts.

But I'm working through it, thanks to Lucy and Chunk and all my human family and friends :D

I'll try to get some more photos and post soon!

Sounds like you're having ups and of course downs. I know how you feel...still miss my girl, Honey, so much some days.
But glad your 2 are getting along so well...it was meant to be. They sound so cute together! Can't wait to see the new pics.

I'm so glad everyone is getting along so well. There will continue to be times you find yourself really missing Willow. I find that one of mine will do something or look at me in a certain way that reminds me of one that is gone. Both my DH and I have accidentally called Dylan "Mickey" or "Mouse" (Mickey's nickname) numerous times. In some ways he does look like Mickey, although Dylan is darker, but it's his expressions and mannerisms - he reminds both of us of Mickey in so many ways. I wish he was the cuddle bug that Mickey was, but unfortunately, he isn't like him in that way. Seeing this in Dylan always brings back memories of Mickey and I miss him all over again every time it happens.

I can't even tell you how many times I have called Lucy "Oosta" or "Oly-will" two of Willow's nicknames. I've never called her Willow though and that's weird. The other names were really terms of endearment for her and what I called her most of the time.

Lucy does visit me sometimes at night in bed, if I'm reading, just before I turn out the lights. And sometimes she does the same in the morning, just before I get up. She spent nearly and hour snuggled on my lap last night when I was watching TV. I think it's good that I'm not getting attached to her in the same way as I am Willow, but I do love the snuggle time.
