Long time no see, and a question

Post by Misty »

Hi all, I haven't been around in a long time now, glad to be back. We moved back in January and I have been very busy with my two kids, and 4 kitties of course :)...anyway...many of you might remember my "mean" cat, Chucky. Well, Chucky is 5 now and has never had his hair to knot until recently. He is not a friendly cat, therefore, me brushing him just won't happen. I have scheduled an appt. at the vet tomorrow for the groomer to trim out his knots. This is going to be very traumatic for him and I really dread it. He will HAVE to be sedated because he is out of control. I was once told at the vet not to bring him back unless it was life or death, thats how bad he is. Is there anything I should ask them to use to sedate him that is better than something else? I really don't want him to be completely out of it because of the dangers, but I don't know how else they will be able to do anything with him. Any suggestions??

just ,my opinion but i think completly out is far better than traquilizers or light sedation...he is not under going surgery so there should be no physical trauma on the body...i would sedate hime compltly---have done many of them and never have lost one in this type of situation.....but i think i would leave it up to ytour vet for what ever he is comfortable with....
