Shannon has gone to the Rainbow Bridge

Post by Sue and Kids »

I spoke on the phone today with Peg. Her computer is still not up and running yet.

I'm afraid I have some heartbreaking news. Shannon has left for the Rainbow Bridge. Peg told me Shannon had her good days and bad days toward the end. Shannon was such a trooper and fought to live.

Last night she suffered a stroke. It wasn't fatal. After going to the emergency vet, it was decided that Peg would take Shannon home and see how things would go. Later, Shannon died peacefully in Peg's arms.

Peg had gone through the agony most of us have about whether to put Shannon down. I don't think Shannon and God wanted her to have to make that choice.

Please send prayers for Peg and Shannon. Peg is a wonderful mommy and did everything possible for Shannon. And because of that, Shannon had a long and happy life with Peg. Shannon meant the world to Peg. We all know the terrible grief and pain Peg is suffering.

Peg did want me to thank everyone for all the kind thoughts and prayers. Thanks to Traci for all your help and advice. Peg appreciates you folks so much. Peg will post here herself when her computer is finally fixed.

Take care, everyone.

I guess there is some kind of kitty gathering at the Rainbow Bridge

I hadn't kept up with Shannon's story because of my own life trials and tribulations but I am so sorry to hear that Shannon left and that heartache is very fresh with me it palpably hurts to even think about. My prayer is that Shannon and Simon and Willow and all the others are sunning themselves peacefully, without harm, without sickness, without fear, and with full bellies. I know they miss their humans so very much just as their human's hearts ache for their loss. I am so sorry

Hello to all,

I guess Sue said it all but I wanted to say thank you for all the prayers and thoughts and help I received for Shannon. She was my baby and I miss her so. I know you all understand. I'm afraid I'm not dealing well with her loss. I feel given my Noodles stroke history I should have known her symptoms were not only arthritis and so I feel guilty that I missed that and she didn't have the chance of being medicated. I just feel if I had known, I could have medicated her and prevented the stroke that took her life. It's tearing me apart. I hope she forgives me. I loved her so and miss her dearly. I can't stop crying.

I took Shannon to the vet at 4am on October 5th and we both agreed she had a stroke. She was pretty unresponsive and I did not want to let them take her and put her down. Her temperature had fallen to 96.5 so I brought her home wrapped in blankets and hot water bottles to see if she would respond. She did not. At 7:45am, October 5th, Shannon passed in my arms at 20 years of age. I hope she is at the bridge with her bothers and sisters and waits for me. I hope she can forgive me. I love you, baby, and I miss you so much.

Shannon had quite a life and I will tell more but for now I am unable to talk for grief.

Thanks again to all.

Peg-Please don't beat yourself up by thinking you are in any way responsible. Strokes aren't called a "silent killer" for no reason. Very often they are caused by vascular abnormalities and can not be anticipated or prevented.
