Hello,
Shannon is having a tough time tonight. Perhaps too much exercise when she was feeling better. I hope that's all it is. She is resting now on her heating pad. She has urinated so her kidneys are working but she hasn't eaten today. She is very uncomfortable and I would appreciate if anyone has any remedies for arthritis pain. I am using Prednesolone, Dasuquin, Arthro-ionex and Buprenex. It was cooler here last night but not enough to make that much difference. Please keep Shannon in your prayers. Thank you.

I printed out the links you sent and will take them to the vet with me. We need to get a program easier for Shannon to tolerate. We've been doing most of those you mentioned. There must be something that will make her feel better. She just urinated and ate a little tuna out of my hand but no real food today. She's resting on the heating pad now. It's possible she slightly overdid it with exercise, but I'd ask your vet about the dosages of buprenex and make sure they are not too high. Some pain meds can cause temporary anorexia. Also make sure you're giving her a small amount of food about a half-hour before any meds so she has something in her stomach to absorb.
The heating pad is a good idea, just make sure the heat is on low setting, so the pad does not get too hot. Also, try using a fluffy soft pillow or soft blanket with it so she can be as comfortable as possible. (i.e., think of laying on a cloud)
If you've used most of what we've talked about, I don't think you're going to find a magic solution, but the vet can evaluate what has worked best in the past. Right now, the pred and buprenex are probably the best course of action at this point.
I'm sorry and I know you don't want to hear it but the arthroionx is useless. Homeopathy is a waste of your money, it's the worst scam in medical history.

Thanks for the information. I have returned to Cosequin and will be getting her on the Hill's JD diet. Her vet thinks that will help her too. It's low in Phosphorus so it will work with her kidneys. She ate the gravy off her food today and did get into the littlerbox. My vet agrees with you about the Arthro-ionex and goes with Cosequin or Dasequin. I'm pilling it now as she is not guaranteed to eat it with her food.
When Shannon feels better, she does laps around the table and climbs on the furniture. I lift her down so she won't fall but worry when I'm not here. Her Buprenex is 1ml and the prednosolone is half a pill or 2.5 mg. She gets Cosequin once a day and Azodyl in the morning for her kidneys. She has been stabalized since we started the Azodyl. Now we have added the Prednosolone and Buprenex. She hates to see me coming!
Her last blood work was in July. The vet was pleased with her results. She's due again in October. She had a dental done last summer and has no smell or odor in her mouth.
I bought a new bed for Shannon today with a big soft pillow. Her old bed has a tent and she can't curl up in that anymore so this one is easier to get in and is bigger. I also have Purr pads all over for her to lay on and of course she's with me on the sofa when she wants.
When I took her to the vet last week I thought it was over. I was a wreck. They feel she is still fighting and we will find a way to make her comfortable. I sure hope so.
